Among the fifteen proposals submitted to the competition, some of which  were drawn up with Giuseppe Chiari, several stood out for their “visionary” approach of wholly conceptual inspiration, developing a critical reflection on the condition of the time in architecture as a discipline. They also championed a rapprochement with the field of the visual arts in the observation of the relationship between town and country, of the artificiality and banality of the built in comparison with the authenticity and force of the natural environment. In particular the drawings of Grass Architecture, one of which won 1st prize (n°. 13), constitute a precise statement, calling for the use of natural materials in an architecture where the matter almost always dies. Thus the architecture, instead of being invented out of the combination of nature and the human hand, of intuition and logic, is stripped of its typologies and functions, and in the end set free, blending with the landscape. Also, Instantaneous birth  is a reminder of how nature continues to exist under the city, silently or menacingly accumulating energies. That same energy that, by a simple movement of faults, can trigger events of an extremely short duration but devastating in their effect. In this case, however, nature appears benevolent. Indeed it always is, or perhaps not...
