NATURE VS ARCHITECTURE

2012 - 2013

Once again Pettena’s research deals with the issue of a critical observation of all elements that may in some way modify the environment, be it natural or ‘worked’ by man.  In doing so, he transforms architecture so that its supremacy in the contact/confrontation with natural elements becomes questionable.  In the drawings of Nature vs. Architecture plans of famous buildings appear to be more and more ‘constricted’, or eroded, by the natural environment.  A very clear symbology shows here how the artist wishes to side up, in the confrontation, with nature, because its force cannot be ignored by architecture, whether consciously or not.
