BUILDINGS CONQUERED BY NATURE

1985

In this series of photographs taken at different times but grouped under a single date to indicate the author's interest in the subject in that period, Pettena returns to the theme of the architecture not made by architects that had characterized the work he had done in the United States more than a decade earlier and its subsequent cataloguing in "Casabella". Unlike those images, however, the architecture here is not so much "unconscious" as "revealed" by nature, which enhances it while concealing it, as it compels a more attentive observation and a greater awareness of the use of space.
