PRESENCE/ ABSENCE

2020

In this work re-occurs the theme of the awareness of one’s physical presence as well as its memory, of the recollection of a form which mantains ‘physical features’.  As in the ‘Shadow’ armchair (1986), about which, many years before, its author wrote “Shadow, an extension of my physicality.  I lived in there, and it keeps my form, the memory of me”.   Conceived in memory of his friend Walter Pichler, whose presence/absence is evoked in an accompanying text, the work is an endearment statement and, at the same time, a memory become physical.
