ENERGY FREE TREE

Museion, Bozen, 2017

This big installation, 8 meters high and 4 meters large, was built and stood near the museum entrance during the Christmas festivities period, and for about two months its role of unusual ‘Christmas tree’ caused an animated debate both on the local press and among the people of the city.  The work was, in fact, meant to trigger ‘mental shortcircuits’ in order to obtain a reaction so as to introduce the subject of environmental awareness and the need of using recycled materials to reduce damages to the environment as much as possible. Car doors and fenders, exhaust pipes, car lights and other parts of machines that were anyway going to be demolished  are assembled in order to recall the shape of a tree.  Therefore, something that seems totally useless can be used  also to imitate and represent nature while avoiding to damage it.
