CITIES OF THE FUTURE

1968

These ‘architectural’ drawings - abstract and clearly influenced  by the many visionary proposals of ‘cities of the future’ of the early ‘60s - were part of  Pettena’s graduation thesis.  The subject of the thesis, defended in May 1968, was the urban requalification of Santa Croce, an area of Florence which had been badly damaged by the flood of November 1966. While adhering to the subject, the drawings show great attention with regards to the visual arts, as well as the author’s interest and information in the field of contemporary experimental architecture.
